Workshop ACT (Active Collaborative Transferable) Learning @ UNINA
The Department of Pharmacy, within the framework of the Departments of Excellence 2023-2027 project, and in collaboration with the Aurora Alliance project, is organising a series of workshops on teaching methodologies for the development of personal skills in students.
The first workshop took place on 16 June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and focused on the LOUIS (Learning Outcomes in Universities for Impact on Society) methodology with the participation of experts Dr. Kees Kouwenaar, (Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam), Prof. Maxim Tomoszek (Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic) and Prof. Marco Biondi (Department of Pharmacy, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II).
LOUIS stands for Learning Outcomes in University for Impact on Society. LOUIS is one of the three components of the Aurora Competence Framework, together with SEISMIC and BEVI. The Aurora Competence Framework is meant to help achieve the Aurora Education Vision: to equip graduates with the subject expertise, skills, and mindsets to contribute to society. LOUIS is a tool to strengthen the general academic and personal learning outcomes in subject-oriented courses and programs. It bridges the gap between broad, generic competence descriptions in qualification frameworks and desired students’ performance and growth in the classroom.
The UNINA workshop focuses on the application of methodologies for the development of transversal competences defined by LOUIS to assess student performance and improve learning, and represents a first step towards rethinking university teaching in the European context. The aim of the event was to promote the sharing of this practice, which can help to create an effective and equitable learning environment for all students, addressing the challenges of higher education. This is of particular importance in today’s social and work context, which requires an increasing integration of thematic and non-thematic competences to form responsible, competent, and adaptable citizens.
The meeting focused on the development of soft skills, which are fundamental for integration into dynamic, multicultural, and inclusive work environments. These skills directly influence personal and interpersonal skills, enabling individuals to act, interact and adapt in different contexts, making autonomous and conscious choices.
The event was attended by twenty UNINA professors and three UNINA students who have already successfully passed Prof. Marco Biondi’s examination, bringing their experience.
