PhD Impact: the Aurora Master Class on Public Outreach for Doctoral Candidates

 PhD Impact: the Aurora Master Class on Public Outreach for Doctoral Candidates, which will be held at the University of Iceland from June 5 to 8, 2023. The final major initiative within the current Aurora Universities Erasmus+ grant work package 4.2 Academic Communities, PhD Impact will provide a fantastic opportunity for PhD researchers across the network to develop their research communication skills under the guidance of experienced instructors, in an intensive but congenial atmosphere, at the height of the Icelandic summer with its close to 24-hour daylight.

Participation in this program is entirely voluntary, but we have for safety´s sake reserved spots in the master class for 3 PhD candidates from each current Aurora University and our incoming partner Université de Paris Est Créteil (UPEC). We hope that you will be able to send PhD researchers from your universities on the program.

Speaking of which, we would like to make a bold request. Would you be able to recruit 3 PhD researchers from your university for the master class? The manner in which you select participants is totally up to you: through interviews, an internal contest, etc. The participating PhD candidates must be enrolled at your university and must not have defended their dissertation or otherwise concluded their studies before the program. We would need the list of participants by April 10, but ideally as soon as possible, so that attendees may purchase flights as far in advance as possible.

We also still need 2-3 experts in research communication from the network to join our team of instructors in Reykjavík. Do you have an outstanding research communicator at your university? If so, please let us know.

Funding: Each sending institution will be responsible for their participants´ travel, lodging and evening meals. Please see the Logistics section of the PhD Impact website for information about expenses and funding.
